Dr. Ashley Shepard

Executive Director

Balance is a word I would use to best describe my approach - I balance direct feedback with sensitivity. Being in your corner, I’m going to point out areas you can consider reflecting on, while also being your advocate and supporter. I believe everything you need to live the life you want is already within you…you just got stuck or lost somewhere along the way. It’s our job together to disentangle all the “stuff” that is getting in the way of you living the life you want. I will follow your lead at times, while also pushing you out of your comfort zone at other times. We may sit in silence together, or we may laugh aloud together, too. Authenticity is an important quality I value in therapy so my sessions won’t feel like you’re talking to a robot. My ultimate hope is that each client I meet will know themselves better, and be on the way to living a better life by the time treatment ends.

Becca Johnson, MS

Therapist

Being human is complicated, sometimes deeply painful, and often messy or confusing. I feel incredibly honored to sit with people in their dark moments and offer empathy and nonjudgmental support as they navigate the challenges they are struggling with. As a therapist, I bring a passion for helping people be the best versions of themselves; I truly believe that we are all filled with the potential for profound growth and healing when given the safety, attuned support, and tools that enable us to thrive.

I provide individual and group therapy for children, adolescents, and adults on a wide range of challenges, such as trauma and PTSD, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, abuse, self-esteem, grief, and life transitions. Whether you're struggling with reactive emotional patterns or defense strategies that seem to be causing more harm than good, I would love to work with you. I enjoy helping people of all ages find the tools and insight they already possess inside to work through their difficulties. Sometimes life experiences can do damage in deep and lasting ways, but I believe we are all capable of healing that rewrites our futures.

My superpower is seeing what is special in each person and helping illuminate their inner strengths and resiliency. Together, we will traverse the path ahead and help you find the confidence and wisdom to overcome your obstacles.

  • President

Creating access to healthier lives as the board President with Access 304 is an opportunity I am thrilled to embark on.

  • Secretary

With great privilege comes great responsibility. I am a proud Veteran who has been privileged to serve this great nation. After 22 years of honorable and faithful service in the United States Marine Corps, I get the honor to serve again with Access 304. During my military career, I was accountable for driving service member engagement through training and mentorship, engaging in inclusion, diversity and equity programs, onboarding and leading operational excellence, while also nurturing professional development for personnel. Serving this great country is my biggest accomplishment and is what I am most proud of.

I have faced quite a few challenges in life, all of which have provided me with valuable lessons, allowing me to come out stronger on the other side. I passionately believe with resiliency, patience, and a warrior spirit, anything can be accomplished.

My absolute favorite thing in life is that with grace, you get to start each day over. Every day is a new opportunity to learn, grow, and become an improved version of oneself. Resiliency, patience, and a warrior spirit have aided me in conquering every challenge that has invited itself my way. Having a platform where others fight unseen battles with you is instrumental in beginning a new day and finding the version of you who is at peace. Transparency, honesty, and acceptance are key to building a successful and supportive environment. By joining Access 304’s journey, my goal is to inspire others to do and believe the same.

  • Treasurer

I fancy myself an introvert who has always been intrigued by people, their story and their journey. As an introvert, I value self-reflection and have developed an emotional intelligence that seeks to remain aware of how I am interacting with others. This interest has allowed me to find success in leadership and management positions from participation in sports team, to over 8 years as a Small Unit Leader in the Marine Corps, to my current position in management.

I studied to become a scholar of organizational leadership for the purpose of understanding how people function within organizations, and how organizational culture affects their ability to reach intended goals. The results have led to success in partnering with individuals and groups to consistently reach individual and collective goals. The greatest benefits have been participating in the growth of others and allowing those relationships to create growth in me, as well. While not every venture or relationship has proven to achieve all that was set out to achieve, I can say in earnest, that I have appreciated the journey and am excited to partake in joining Access 304’s journey in making specialty services available to West Virginians.
